FOUNDER STORY:Abena Foli was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. Her passion for food comes from her father who has been farming for forty years. He taught her how to blend the West African holy trinity and to cook. While working in the food industry as a regulatory expert, Abena was exposed to the lack of West African originated products and flavors in the food retail space. Leveraging her food science expertise and West African heritage, Abena launched POKS Spices in 2016 to introduce the American home cook to West African flavors and to the West African holy trinity.
